On this Valentines Day
I have something to tell you
Not only am I your niece
But, since 03-08-07 I became your daughter too
Now that my daddy's gone
All I have is you
But even when he was here
I always turned to you
Even though I know
My Daddy can't be replaced
I thank God I still have you
To love me and keep me safe
Now that the responsibility
Is passed on to you
There are a couple of things
That you must do
Hold me when I cry
Call me princess
Give me advice
Tell me how much I'm missed
Tell me my Dad would be proud
If he was here
Love me no matter what
Keep me near
Let me lay on your shoulder
Hug me tight
Ask me what's wrong
Even when I fuss and fight
Lift me when I can't stand
Help me find my way
Cause a part of me is still a lost little girl
Even though that I never may say
So when I overcome obstacles
And make it through
Smile and be proud
It was all because of you
I couldn't think of anyone
That's more qualified for this position
Cause you've always been the one
To take the time and listen
You know you'll have to be there
For my graduation the most
Give me away at my wedding
Make the daddy toast
Father Daughter Dance
Yeah, those things are important to me
But, the things that matter the most
Are the things that most people can't see
How you've supported me
And always understand
When I thought I couldn't do it
You always said I can
So, you've gotta see why I've asked you
