Eat-A-Lot-Of-Turkey-Day!
With a knife and fork you sit around the table.
Big eyes and empty stomachs, you start to drool.
The old guy at the end, saying grace over the food.
As he falls asleep you silently curse the old fool.
The kid sitting next to you is shoveling down.
Your mother's foot colliding into your shin,
Halts your attempt to stab a piece of turkey
If your stomach ran in American Idol it'd win.
The prayer finally ends and the chaos erupts
Bits and pieces of food flying in every direction
No time to talk everyone is busy not choking
Baby's purple face causes no immediate attention
At last everyone is done eating; goodbyes are said.
Your father scolds you for rolling on the ground
Hugging family members, avoiding the ones puking,
You swear your Aunt Betty has gained 20 pounds
Finally your family waddles over and gets in the car
Dad fights the seat belt between him and the wheel.
On the drive home, just as your drifting to sleep
Your brother leans over and gives you his meal.
What can I say but HAPPY EAT-A-LOT-OF-TURKEY-DAY!
