A man seeing only oppression in his life,
Struggles to find salvation for him and his wife.
His mind is transfixed with images of regret and dismay,
Depressing emotion that haunts him from day to day.
This night he is given papers and told to find work at another place,
And so ashamed he is he dare not look his wife in her face.
The neon lights stretch out like hands from beyond the grave,
Showing him only images of how his condition has gone from bad to grave.
A child on the way, and hope of a new life symbols a path he is not sure,
But knowing deep in his heart that the love he feels for his family is overwhelmingly pure.
Eight months along, and his hope is now stamped on the floor left to die,
And out of pure disgust he silently screams at himself as to why.
No answers echo back giving him any hope for the future he sees ahead,
He wonders if he is even better off now just being dead.
His muscles tense his stare goes beyond hope to dread and fear,
And out of his pain a unlawful solution will appear.
The rent is past due, and he knows his check will not cover all there cost,
In misery he stops only to envision all is lost.
Tears trickle down a face of a man that sees no way out,
And as he is driven to this horror his moral don't remain stout.
Fifty bucks is all that he has to make the table turn for what should be right,
And he knows he can't just lay down for his family is worth the fight.
He goes down a dark lot where bad deals are born out of pain,
And he walks away from his morals putting him against laws grain.
He hands the money over only to retrieve a fistful of steal and lead,
For he had paid the toll to death to join the land of the dead.
Sweat is cold against the steel that tells this story for me and you,
And the small neon light saying open 24hrs tells him what to do.
He walks in peering across the isles waiting for his time to strike for green,
But as he pulls out his weapon he already was foreseen.
A bullet shoots out straight to make its damning mark,
And it chews into his flesh like some hungery shark.
It passes through to hit another mark just on his left out of his sight,
The woman of his dreams falls dead the motivation life died this very night.
He spins and catches a sight of her fall to the floor,
As people run to the rescue jamming the front door.
All is silent as his eyes close for just a short time,
And when he awakes he is told of his crime.
The woman is gone, his baby will never think on her own,
And he has sentenced himself to being a king on a hellish thrown.
In the end we all have to make choices that are right and wrong,
But in making those decisions, you make it knowing how others will get along.
For each choice that is made, you must understand it will effect one and all,
So please think about who will rise and who will fall.
