make me long for your touch

yet you make me feel the pain
of having to let you go
never seeing you again.
You felt you had to enlist
and go away to war.
You put an end to our love
as you began to shut that door.
What will I do

not having you around
not seeing your face.

You said goodbye
over dinner and champagne
fed me the lie
our love will remain.
We both know
it will soon fade
could have been different

my assumptions where true

my frustration grew.
I began to doubt
