I'm still holding on.
Although it's been quite a while,
I would do almost anything,
Just so I could see your smile.
And I understand why you can't be here,
But I don't understand why you're gone,
I need you to hold me right now,
Because it was you that made me strong.
It's been a hard four years with out you,
Been difficult to face each day,
And I haven't stopped thinking of you,
Since you slipped away.
Today I made a special tribute to you,
Mom, you would've been forty three,
You died way too young,
And fell away from me.
I've remembered the good times,
Along with all the bad,
And the years I spent with you,
Were the best I ever had.
I've realized how much you meant to me,
And just what the word mother stood for,
Because I've lost babies of my own,
And I can't have anymore.
The bond that we had,
Is one that will never break,
Although sometimes here with out you,
Has been more than I can take.
But I just want you to know mommy,
That you're forever in my heart,
And I'll keep carrying you with me,
As long as we're apart.
