My heart skipped a beat
There on the floor was my present
Huge and unmissable
Wrapped in multi coloured paper
Eagerly I tore at the wrapping
Baring a............ rubbish bin!
Dejected I sat there on the floor
Crying at such a cruel joke
Lifting the lid to clear it away
My eyes flew open in delight
There in the bin was a clock
The most beautiful I ever had seen
I wound it up and set the alarm
Then cried as I heard that alarm
It was his voice I heard saying
"Wake up my love to enjoy the day"
I emptied the remains of that bin
Out to roll about on the floor
Scrolls upon scrolls rolled about
Each tied with a golden ribbon
I opened one, then another and another
Each contained one of my poems
Written in an elegant cursive hand
My eyes filled with happy tears
Thank you my wonderful love
No one could give a better present
For only a heart filled with love
Could give so much pleasure
